Oct 4 – Leaving Izmir

Today was our last full day in Turkey.  Earl and I slept in a little and had breakfast. After this it was back to the hotel room to make sure all of the electronic devices were charged, all pictures uploaded and that plans were set.

Turkish Cay (Tea)

Once this was done we checked out of the hotel, dropped the bags at the front desk and walked for about an hour around the water, took some pictures and just enjoyed the day.  As we started walking back to the hotel we decided to grab a snack, since we weren’t going to get food on the flight.

We sat down at a table to get cay (tea). When we asked for a menu, the waitress and cook came out samples of the 3 choices.  Earl and I decided on the lamb “ravioli”, I got it with yogurt and garlic sauce and Earl had it with tomato sauce.  Once this came out and we started eating we agreed that this was one of the best meals of the trip and for both of us it was only $12!

When we were done eating, we got the car and attempted to again navigate out of Izmir to the airport.  Once we got to the airport we returned the rental car and checked in with the Pegasus kiosks for our flight back to Istanbul.

Back in Istanbul we walked from the domestic to the international terminal for the Courtyard shuttle which took us back to the new Marriott Courtyard Istanbul.  We grabbed our bags that we left on Sunday and went up to the room.  Earl found ESPN America and watched the football highlights and the baseball game.  Off to Bangkok tomorrow!  (Once I get laptop on again, I will add the food pictures)

  1. Now that you are back in Istanbul, why not give the Burrito another shot Earl?
